Leipzig GC: PSP Highlights
Date: 22 Nov 2006
The future's looking so bright for PSP that you may need sunglasses. In no particular order, here's our pick of the top games making waves at the Leipzig Games Convention.

Tekken Dark Resurrection

A perfect handheld conversion of last year’s peerless Tekken 5, with brand new, PSP exclusive additions, Tekken Dark Resurrection pushes PSP to the limit with awesome visuals, sound and incredible gameplay. While two new fighters, Lili and Dragunov, bring the total amount of playable characters to over 30.

Tekken Dark Resurrection also features Ad Hoc wireless multiplayer as well as unlockable bonus games like Tekken Bowling to provide a break from all the fighting. Perfect for playing on the go, Tekken Dark Resurrection is going to be an absolutely amazing addition to your PSP games library.

Silent Hill: Origins

Survival horror goes portable as the popular series makes its way onto PSP. Origins tells the story of Silent Hill’s transformation from a friendly, sleepy mountain town to a twisted vision of hell.

First impressions confirm that the game keeps all the features that made the previous editions such spooky fun to play. The fog-drenched city retains its atmosphere of despair and terror, while combat has been given a 'Resident Evil 4'-style makeover. Making the survival horror genre work on a handheld is no small feat but from what we’ve seen Origins could be the best Silent Hill game yet.

Lumines 2

The original Lumines was one of the best launch titles for PSP and remains one of the most fun and innovative puzzle games around. Now Lumines 2 is on its way and it looks like it’s going to trump the original at every turn.

Featuring an amazing soundtrack, packed full of songs and videos from artists like Gwen Stefani, The Black Eyed Peas, The Go! Team and Beck, and retaining the classic puzzle-based gameplay and amazing visuals that made the original so enjoyable... Don't plan on getting anything else done once it has you in its grasp, as this is set to be one seriously addictive game.

B-Boy

Whether you know your windmills from your freezes, B-Boy is a gaming experience like no other. Using a dynamically controlled battle system, B-Boy lets you take on breakdancing masters from around the world in the ultimate battle for urban supremacy.

Playing like a cross between Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and a rhythm action game, B-Boy sees you stringing together dance moves and combos to an amazing old school hip hop and soul soundtrack. An effortlessly cool game that combines a beat 'em-up's mentality with an awesome urban style, B-Boy is sure to have us windmilling with joy when it's released in September.

Gradius Collection
One of the most acclaimed shoot-em-up series of all time, Gradius has been entertaining gamers for over 20 years and is now set to delight a whole new generation with Gradius Collection, a bumper pack of five Gradius games available exclusively for PSP.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Gradius is a side scrolling space-based shooter that combines fast and furious shooting action with awesome power-ups and absolutely immense end-of-level bosses.

Gradius Collection brings together the first four arcade games and also includes the previously unseen Gradius Gaiden, for all the intergalactic warfare you could ever ask for. Perfect for quick pick-up-and-play sessions, but with easily enough depth to keep you interested for longer bouts.
